rails mercury editor

The mercury editor for rails allows you to edit specified sections of your HTML directly in your web browser through a WISYIWYG editor. I think this editor is worth a try! I tried it today in one of my projects and I think mercury contains some nice and very useful features.

DummyText Gem

I often need dummy text while developing websites and working on projects. I decided to write a little gem which can generate dummy lorem ipsum texts. I know that there are already a few outside, but I thought it would be a good practise to write it on my own.

You can easy generate dummy lorem ipsum texts and it is possible to generate your own text template and override the default template.

Capistrano single file deployment

Sometimes it happens, that you make a change in one of your project files, because you forgot something. But now you do not want to create a completely new release, because it is not necessary for just one file. The deployment gem capistrano offers a good possibility for removing your problem.

Assumed you changed your 'app/controllers/application_controller.rb' and your deployment process works with capistrano, then you can execute the following steps:

Sortable List in Rails3 with jQuery

Today I had to programm a sortable projects list for a customer. I searched for good options and found the following tutorial:

It is very good explained and really easy to do. You just have to follow the few steps in the link above.

Summarized the sortable list is created with the gem gem "acts_as_list" and with jQuery.
