i18n yaml generator

In this short blogpost I want present you a nice little generator gem called i18n-yaml-generator from the company Skalar from norway.

The guys there created a nice gem which invokes an i18n yaml generator when calling the standard scaffold model or controller generators provided from the rails framework itself. The locale files are generated for all locales listed in I18n.available_locales.

Gemsitter

Today I was searching for new, nice and convenient gems and I made a very cool find. I found the gem called gemsitter.

I often have longer existing projects and these projects certainly use gems with different versions. Most of the gems get updates and fixes from time to time. But in older projects are still the older gem versions with maybe security issues or something like that and that is not good and really not professional.…

Stopping spam with akismet

The Frick-Web site has been getting a lot of blog comment spam in the last days, but no longer. I integrated an akismet anti spam plugin which was developed originally from Ryan Bates. This plugin uses the akismet web service to check if a comment is spam or not. You can find the plugin here [LINK].

Service Oriented Design with Ruby on Rails book

Now all my examinations are finished for this semester. So now it is time for relaxation. I think i will read "Service-Oriented Design with Ruby on Rails" from Paul Dix. Maybe it will cover some topics from my master thesis in future. The book is from the Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series and worth a try to read out. By the way it is available on amazon.
