Today I was searching for new, nice and convenient gems and I made a very cool find. I found the gem called gemsitter.

I often have longer existing projects and these projects certainly use gems with different versions. Most of the gems get updates and fixes from time to time. But in older projects are still the older gem versions with maybe security issues or something like that and that is not good and really not professional. This is where gemsitter comes in. Gemsitter is a gem that checks the installed gems in your ruby on rails application for patches, major or minor updates. The gem is Rails 3 compatible.

From now on you just can use this gem, if a customer, for example, wants a new feature and you have to change in a sequel production code from an older project. You can add the new feature and check for newer gem versions. With a good test coverage adding newer gem versions is no problem and you are not only with new projects up-to-date, but also with ageing projects.
